NBCC: Rethinking Addiction & Mental Health
This 3-hour interactive training explores the neurobiological, environmental, and trauma-related factors that contribute to the development of addictive behaviors. Clinicians and care providers will gain a deeper understanding of addiction as a brain-based disorder and the role of trauma, stress, and epigenetics in shaping vulnerability to substance use. Participants will learn about the impact of the opioid epidemic, medication-assisted treatment (MAT), non-opioid pain management strategies, and community harm reduction tools like naloxone. Emphasis is placed on integrating trauma-informed and holistic approaches to promote safety, recovery, and resilience in clinical and community settings.
